Walking Humbly with God

I know I posted the goals I had for this year and I included the goals I have for my faith as well but I have one more to add. We sing this hymn during Mass all the time at school and I love it. Every time we sing it this part stands out "to walk humbly with God". In my quest for validation and wanting to be worthy I tend to not walk humbly. I want to be recognized for the worth I bring. I think the reason this verse gets to me is because I have had it all wrong. I am worthy and I do not need to convince others of it I just need to know it in myself. My path towards honoring God has shown me that if I wasn't worthy He wouldn't have made me. In Genesis it says that God made man and it was good. So that makes me good. Now I just need to learn to walk humbly with Him. Oh and the kids at HR sing it much better!

365 Blog

Just a quick note that I have decided to participate in Project 365. To see some other our daily happenings check it. I am also hoping to improve my photography abilities.

Let it Snow!

Today we had a snow day.
Even though I planned to stay in these ALL day Little Miss had other plans.

So we traded Ugg slippers for Ugg Boots and headed out into the snow.

To look at and play in this.
When we started out The Boy was less than interest. She on the other hand was ecstatic.
This was the first time she got to play in the snow for more than 10 minutes. Her favorite part was dancing in the snow.I thought she might be cold at this point but no she was still all smiles.

So I decided that going for a walk to Sleven would be fine. This became my destination.
For what you might ask? What would make her walk to 7-11 in the snow with two kids in tow?
Well I did tell you about my obsession no?

And all was right with the world again. Well for me at least.
I then asked Little Miss what her destination was. Guess what she said!?! Rain Snow or Shine 3
year olds love the the park!

I checked on The Boy and off we headed. Guess he still wasn't interested in the snow.
A quick pic of Just Us Girls.
My two favorite pictures of the day:

A yummy sleeping babe and...

A snowy arabesque

Obsessions

Do you have one? I sure do. I have an addiction to, an obsession with...

it has to be the sugar free kind and it has to be cold. It is my guilty pleasure because the suckers aren't cheap. My dream husband refuses to get me another case at Costco so I must sneak them after I leave for work. Though like I said sometimes in my MHR post he delivers the goods. We had a snow day today and boy am I craving the one I have a work. So do you have any guilty pleasures???

I'm in!

you in?

I have pledged five hours of community service. I got a free cup of coffee for it too. Now to be honest I am not a huge coffee fan unless its iced but I am all game for a good cause. So how will I give five hours of community service? Well first I will be making sandwiches for a local shelter called Martha's Table. My class and I are collecting toiletries to make kits for homeless in our area to be given at Christ House. I will look into tutoring somewhere. Now I ask you, you in? It breaks down to 25 minutes a month! I know you all can do it! Go on lets lead by example!

MHR

I love my dear husband because he is extremely thoughtful in ways I take for granted. He went out for guys night out and I took Little Miss and The Boy to my parents. I am driving home with them and before I left my Mom's I told her how one of the things I dislike about being alone is having to get the kids in pj's and ready for bed by myself. So I get home and what do I see? Both kids pj's laid out on their beds! Just the little things! Another example is getting into my car in the morn and seeing this...

At Last!!

In case you have not had a chance to view the first dance of President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama click here. Can I just say I think it is the sweet first dance. I love how cute and sweet they look together. I can honestly say I have been an Obama supporter for over 4 years, since I first heard him speak at the DNC in 04. But Michelle I wasn't too sure about. Now though I have jumped on her bandwagon and am diggin her. I love her sass and how much she loves her husband. She seems like such a great mother and except for a few dresses I love her still too. Anyway check out the video and possibly add the song to your iPod if you don't already have it.

1/20/2009

I had such plans for today! We had the kids clothes laid out last night and the alarm set for 5:30. That is until AJ started coughing at about mmm 10 pm and didn't stop until 10 pm tonight. I went to ask her if she still wanted to go to Barack's parade and she said no she wanted to stay home with me. I was C-R-U-S-H-E-D!!! My mother in law got us tickets to view the Inauguration from the Treasury Department and then we had tickets to view the parade from an awesome spot at the front! Reserved seats no less! Can I just tell you how upset I was all day? I guess it all comes down to maternal sacrifices and God's will. Had I not been home I would have not been able to answer my mothers call about my Dad needing to go the hospital. I would not have been with my family in a time of need. I would have been stuck in DC freaking out because I could not get home fast enough. So thankfully my sweet AJ had a cough and we stayed home. But can I just say a few things? First of all how proud I am. Proud of my country, our country for breaking down another barrier and coming closer to the greatness of our countries potential. Proud of the city of my birth for hosting such a historic event without a single arrest. How greatful I am to live in a country that has the transition power happen so peacefully. How honored I am to have experience and seen change in action. We didn't just use the word in speech we made it into an action. To me this was more than electing our first African American President it was about electing the right man for the job. To me Barack Obama is not African American and maybe since my chilren are biracial I don't see things as just black or just white, I see that there is more and you can be both or non at all. It was about not looking at the color of his skin and voting for the possibility of a better America.
The clothes were picked out with care. Ready in hopes that Barack would soon be seen.

Sleeping all snug in bed.

Little Miss with a cough drop.

From the comfort of my own room.

What I saw instead... Change is here!

MHR!

I so wanted this gift for Christmas and my nice sweet husband gave it to me this week! I haven't had time to do much than decorate the guitar and get booed of stage but I am so psyched. It is also great that Kevin loves playing and I see him getting some time to do something he likes. So Guitar Hero is a win-win!

MHR

My husband ROCKS!!!

Why? Because as I have said before he loves me. Me. All of me! If I never lose a pound he still loves me. Even though I don't look like I did when we first met he loves me. He is the only person who has not made weight an issue. One time he mentioned that he was a little shocked to see me when I came home from school heavier than what I had been when he saw me a month before but since then he has not made it important. He isn't blind and he acknowledges there has been weight gain but thats it. No reproach nothing except love. I asked him today if I never lose a pound and look like this the rest of my life would you leave me? He answered I married you for you not what you might look like afer losing weight. Might not seem like a lot but thats just another reason he ROCKS!

My Answers to Bob Greene

Along with doing Weight Watchers I have decided to try and work on some of the topics Oprah is doing in her Best Life Series. It is the closest I think I can get to have a Jillian from the biggest loser helping me. Today's show was awesome and here are my responses to Bob Greene's five questions. A bit personal but since I have limited people reading I am okay sharing. Here is the link in case you would like to participate.

What are you really hungry for?

Unconditional Love and Approval. I want to know that no matter what I am loved for who I am. Even if I never change from what I am today I want to know it is enough. I want to know that for my mother, grandfather and aunt it is enough. I want to be good enough for myself. I want to not wish I was someone else all the time thinking that it would make others like and love me more to think me worthy. I want to not have to prove my worth to others. I want to be loved unconditionally. I don't think it is really my family that isn't loving me. I actually know that my family loves me and since having Ava and Kohen I know they love me but I can't seem to shake that need for approval and the need I feel to prove myself to them in hopes I will be everything they want me to be. Somewhere deep inside me is fear that any moment they will leave me. I fear that they will find someone better and choose them over me. I realize this is silly and frankly stupid but its there and I don't know how to get rid of it. So I am hungry for self approval as well. I am hungry to love myself unconditionally.

Why are you overweight?

See post below and add to my love of food. I would also throw in that I eat to not deal with childhood issues. Possibly the abandonment of my father when I was a baby. I have always pretended it didn't matter because I have a GREAT Dad but I stop myself from thinking(till now) about the hurt in knowing that a man could leave me, his baby and not look back. That I wasn't good enough to send Christmas presents to, take for vacations or even call on birthdays, nothing. I meant NOTHING to him. So in order to not think about how worthless I was to him or others in my life I eat.

Why have you been unable to maintain weight loss in the past?

I have never committed myself too it. Probably for fear of giving it my all and failing.

What in your life is not working?

Ha! I am sitting here trying to figure this out and all I think of is that my mind is not helping me. I am my own worst enemy and doubter. I do not have faith in myself because I don't consider myself worthy.

Why do you want to lose weight?

To be able to play with my kids and be here for them for a long time. So that I can walk with confidence and not worry that I am being judge for my weight. To be healthy not need asthma meds and to be proactive in my health as I get older. I want to lose weight to look good. To be a cute Mom. I want to be thin so I that I can not embarrass my children by being their fat mom. So I can set a good example for my kids and lead by my actions not just my words. To feel good about me. To take control over my emotions and not eat them. So I can move on from the bad things that have happen to me and not let them control me.

January 4th next update February 4th.

The Weight Post...

So as listed in a previous post I am working on me this year and losing this weight that has taken over my body the last DECADE of my life. I can't remember always being overweight I dare to say in high school I was definitely average size 6/7. Then it happen college really, second semester college. To deal with a situation that tested me beyond belief I ate. I ate a lot specifically steak and cheese subs from Santino's with the best sauce ever. And of course the Papa John's Sausage Pizza with the garlic sauce. I came home from school in May and my parents thought I was pregnant (extremely embarrassing). I am not sure if it was the situation or how my loved ones reacted that hurt me most. I don't know if possibly it was me just needing a reason to eat or if I thought eating and gaining weight would protect me in the future. Then it just kept coming over the years I have gained and gained. I have also lost and then gained again. This year I plan to rid myself of this weight for good. I turn 30 in 3 months. I am letting go. Letting go of the anger, anger towards him, anger towards my family and anger towards me. I will not let this define who I am in my 30's. I have given the weight, the words of my family and friends power over my life for 1o years and this year it ends. Now I would love to say that I will get back into my Express jeans that Kevin bought me when I was 18 (I believe I still have them?) but realistically I know that may not happen and it probably won't. So my goal is to get to a weight where I am healthy. At the moment I don't suffer from the weight except for emotionally and my asthma. But type 2 diabetes runs in my family and my grandfather suffers from heart disease so I want to be proactive. I also want to be able to run. This may seem basic for most people and I am not totally sure it is because I am overweight that I can't run or because I have extremely flat feet but it is a dream of my to go for a run. So in the next three months I will be blogging about my progress and updating where I am at. I realize I got to this point over 10 years and 3 months is not going to undo it all, but I believe that 3 months is a good start and a nice small amount of manageable time. So for now I am focusing on the next three months. All I want to be able to do then is try on the clothes on the top of my closet and have them fit well. They are all my current size and one size below not a 7 or 10. I want to fit into my 14's and 12's without bulges and rolls. I want to be jogging for at least 10 minutes. I want to not need my inhaler.
