My husband rocks

this is the easiest MHR post I have had to do. This week was the first week I went back to work and was not able to take the littles. On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week Kevin stayed home with AJ and Kohen. He somehow managed to get them dressed showered and to my school by 2:30 for Kohen's second feeding and then to the vet on Wednesday. He did this while fighting a horrible bug that has taken over his immune system since Tuesday. So why does he rock you may ask, yes because he stepped up and took care of the kids two days on his own bur more because he got them showered and out the door before dusk and didn't rub it in my face that I was rarely able to do that all summer :X
Kev knocked out at 8:30 pm after a long day caring for our kids. ((()))

Pretzel Blueberry Dessert

So Ava has her preschool picnic next week and we were all asked to bring a dish. One of the first times I had dinner at my friend Stacey's house she made this blueberry pretzel dessert that I am still thinking about at least a year later. I was asked to make a dessert for school tomorrow and decided to try this out before I take it to AJ's school picnic. One of the requirements of my goffer is that I make some for the family too and thus begun my adventure. I googled the recipe and found several that sounded yummy and decided to mix my favorite parts of each. We'll see what my workmates think tomorrow but tonight, K really liked it. So Martina prepare to try some of this at the picnic this week ;).

Recipe:
  1. 1 1/2 C. Crushed Pretzels
  2. 1/2 C. Sugar
  3. 1/2 C. Melted Butter
  4. 2 8 oz containers of cream cheese (softened)
  5. 1 1/2 C. Powdered Sugar
  6. 1 C Cool Whip
  7. 2 21 oz Cans of Blueberry Pie Filling (or Strawberry)
Mix the pretzels, sugar and melted butter and pressed into a 13 inch pan. In a large mixer mix the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Fold in the Cool Whip and spread over the pretzel crust. I found it is best to use the back of a spoon to spread the cream cheese topping over the pretzels. Lastly spread the blueberry filling on top and chill for 30 minutes at least.

Mashed taters?

Kohen started solids about 3 weeks ago. He has had cereal w/ breastmilk, bananas, avocado, apples, sweet potatoes, pancakes, waffles and lastly carrots. Today we went to the ped's for his 6 month and he weighted 12lbs 14 ozs :-(. Ava was this big at his age but our ped is still concerned, as am I, so she asked that we start having him eat 3 times a day and add butter and cream to his food. She said after 6 months breastmilk is lower in fat and he needs to get more fat in his diet. Tonight we gave him mashed potatoes and he loved it. I am not sure why my kids are so skinny it but it sure worries me. With me going back to work he has been drinking less too. He will only have one 4 oz bottle after I leave. He waits to eat the next one until 2:30-3! I just went back yesterday so maybe he will adjust and go back to his old schedule from last school year. I am wondering if I should supplement with formula a but my ped didn't mention it an I forgot to ask. He goes back in two weeks or pediaRx and a weight check. Besides that he is doing super he can sit up for a short while stands (holding our hands) and puts weight on his legs for a long time. Dr. Scheibel said that the baby she was looking at was not the one that showed up on paper. Augh! So here is a pic of my little man after his mashed potatoes... (excuse the huge mess)

National Zoo 2008

Kevin took the day off on Friday so we could take our annual trip to the National Zoo. We had a good time and I think we will continue this August tradition next year. Ava was so excited about seeing the SNAKES and of course the pandas. This year we took my niece Jessica which made AJ oh so happy. Enjoy...

My Husband Rocks

Kevin Rocks because, he helped me create and helps me care, for the two best things in my life. He has helped me make this wonderful life and no matter what he is a great father and in the end that is what is most important right now.

Wow

I have always thought that going from 3 years old to 4 years old is a huge shift. That 2 and 3 are pretty much the same thing. Then I came across this picture I took yesterday of Maeve, Ava and Adalie and remember that last August I took a similar picture of the girls. I now think that every year brings huge changes and the truth is she won't be little for much longer. I know I can't wait to see where their friendship takes them over the years. So bittersweet...

6th Months of Bliss

My dear sweet Kohen is now 6th months! Like most of you who have babes know I feel like I blinked and poof he is a 6 month old yet I feel like he has been part of us forever. Children are such a blessing. I am so honored and grateful that God choose us to be Kohen's family and gave him to me. He feels my life with such joy he has made me love Ava even more than I thought I could. I find it amusing that he is a morning person and wakes up with such spirit and so happy not sure that happen since Kevin and AJ wake up grumpy and I wake up begging for more sleep. He loves his sister and looks at her with such admiration. I am happy to report he has started to enjoy his time with Daddy more in the past month and I believe this has made Kevin very happy. He is still a little Mama's Boy and truthfully I love being his favorite person. On to the stats and milestones:
  • Rolling over
  • Sitting up for brief periods
  • Eating some baby food but prefers Daddy's Pancakes
  • About 13.4 Lbs
  • Length not sure...

My Husband Rocks

Kevin rocks because he allows me to have days like I did yesterday (see below) and wakes up the next morning expecting the best from me and with full confidence in my ability as a mother and a wife. He has enough faith in our relationship to tell me when he thinks I need to reevaluate. But he isn't disappointed in me and knows that I can do better and even if I am not he won't walk out on me. This may not seem like a lot but when at moments when I am doubting myself and wondering how I can get up and do it again he comes along and just expects it, and that is because he knows me and trust me and loves me. It means so much to me to know that no matter what he will always be in my corner and not lose faith in me. I have learned that part loving someone means expecting the best from them and knowing when they have given it even if it isn't perfection (it rarely is) yet not walking away or leaving when they can't give it. Hope this makes sense because it one of the best reasons Kevin rocks...

Mommy's Dirty Little Secret

Sometimes I can't wait till bedtime. I can't wait to have peace and quiet. I can't wait to not be climbed on and I can't wait to not be nursing anymore. Sometimes I wish I could go away for a few hours by myself without kids. Sometimes it bothers me that after cooking dinner and trying to provide my family a healthy dinner they say I don't like that I won't try it. Sometimes my husband doesn't help enough and I want to scream. Some days I do scream, a lot. Some days I go to bed and wonder if Ava will forgive me for yelling at her just because I have lost my patience. No sugar coating...

MoCo Fair

We went to the fair last night. AJ had a blast and Kohen was so good. We had funnel cake and cotton candy so that made Ava's day (mine too). My sis went with us and made me ride this thing that was like the pirate boat but spun as well, kind looked like a claw, crazy. Its funny but I use to love rides like that and now they make me scared but I was so glad I got on it was soooo fun.

Laundry Anyone?

See how they turn on me? All of the sudden the kids think laundry is the best thing ever and fun to play in. I told you all that it was my biggest enemy and I kept losing the battle. Somethings never change because now I have to keep the littles out if so I can fold. (don't mind the painting tape, Kev will finish the trim here one day).
Fun Fun Fun!

This is a new facial expression.

I can not put into words how much these to feed off each other and enjoy playing. I didn't think it was possible with their age difference. Guess I was wrong, at least for now.

Go Redskins!

So we took the kids to our first game as season ticket holders. Our seats are 4 rows away from the top in corner of the end zone home team side. The way the stadium is set up makes are seats have a really good view of the field and we are able to see everything. Not bad for the 400 section and a whole lot better than spending 5k for club seats. Anywho both kids did very well and I think AJ actually enjoyed it. She was dancing and boppin along with the band and cheerleaders though her favorite part may have been riding the Metro. Kohen doesn't care where he is as long as he's with me. The only thing that sucked was the walk to and from the metro. I think in total I walked about 2.5 miles that night. That after a spin class in the a.m. We got home around 12:30 and both kids were exhausted, who am I kidding Kev and I were done long before they were. We won't be taking the kids to anymore games this season because they will probably get cold being so high up. I can't wait for the first game of the regular season...

She loved the Metro but wanted to stand the whole way

Kohen and I accidentally wore Cowboys colors :O thank goodness we were playing the Bills.
Not to bad.

Our Little Redskinette

Kohen was too interested in the cheerleaders ;)

She was trying to get him to clap along with the band
Seriously can't I just enjoy the game?
