Voting Obama

Today I performed my civic duty and voted. Well actually I took my two kids and then let Ava vote. She pushed the button and cast my vote for Barack Obama. Before we voted I bent down and asked her who she wanted to vote for and she told me Barack Mommy. I had gone early in the morning and lines were out the school parking lot so I went back with the kiddos after school. Of course after I voted I took my grandma to vote and she voted for John McCain so I cancelled AJ's vote. In the end though my little one got to experience at the age of 3 what it means to be American. Below are picture of the Guishard voters.

Halloween 2008

I am exhausted and ready for bed so this will be short. I wasn't able to get many pics because my camera was not working. It has since started working again and all is right in the world (well picture taking world). So here are some pics from last night. Kev and I dressed up as Sumo Wrestlers for a while, Kohen only kept his costume on for picture and Ava well she loves Halloween and trick-or-treated for hours. She was so good and walked almost the whole time did not cry or complain and wished nearly everyone a Happy Halloween. In my opinion she looked beautiful again in the costume Ant made her and everyone seemed to think it was soo cute. We went T-O-T'ing with Kev's bff Answan and his family. I think AJ enjoyed having Alyssa with her. We did pretty well considering the kids and I are sick and feel crappy.

Much to do about nothing???

Those of you have been long time reader of my blog or even a long time friend of mine know that I am a STRONG support of Barack Obama. So why is now 3 days from the election that I have such feels of turmoil? While I know that my vote is mine and totally up to me I want to blog about this because I need to work through my feelings. So here goes, I don't want to make the wrong choice.
I am very inspired by Barack Obama and really want him to be our next president. I have come to terms with most of his imperfection. I have read his book Dreams of My Father and worked through my thoughts on it. I have input my information into Barack's tax thingy and really like what I see. So what you ask is my reservation, abortion and the what ifs. I am soooo conflicted about what effect my vote will have on the future of abortion in our country. Through many long talks with a good friend, you know who you are, I have come to change my position and now truly believe in the protection the unborn children. I do believe that life begins at conception and that abortion does equal the killing of innocence and goes against the sanctity of life. Growing in my faith has done so much for me and for my personal life and has now brought me to a crossroads.
How do you vote when with all your heart you believe that a candidate is best for our country and but your still hear that little voice saying but don't forget his is very pro-choice and would in act legislation that would make abortion more available?
I have spoken about this with Kev who is through the roof upset with me for considering a change of vote. I agree with another friend who believes that the voting for McCain won't lead to less abortions and what we need is more education and I like her think that a vote for Barack does not make me evil or condemned to hell. But then I have to ignore what the bishops say and what the Church believes.
Though I respect John McCain for his service to our country and admiration for his decision to remain as a POW. That's where it ends, I think his treatment of his first wife is despicable. I think his is treatment of Barack during the first 2 debates a perfect example of how ornery he his. I don't think he looks out for the middle class and don't agree with his healthcare policy. I detest Sarah Palin, think she is a hateful mean spirited woman. So as you can see I don't like them. BUT I am still conflicted...
So what do I do stay home and pray the right man wins (hoping it Barack)? Vote for McCain (an act I will detest doing) and pray Barack wins. Or vote for Barack like I have been wanting to for the last FOUR years?

Only a person like me would be here, contemplating going against all but one of my beliefs to do the right thing, maybe the right thing?

Little Red Riding Hood

Here are some pics from Ava's school parade. I love how Ant's LRRH costume turned out. I was surprise to see that AJ and another little girl were the only two girls not dressed as Disney Princesses. At one point Kev asked me which princess was which, guess we need to brush up on our princesses knowledge and even start watching the videos. Poor AJ has only seen Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid in terms of Princess movies. So on with the pics

Cupcakes...

48 of them! AHHH. I made cupcakes for Ava's Halloween Party tomorrow. She was a busy girl with gymnastics and her annual viewing of The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown so I did most of them myself. Her class only has 12 kids but I baked some for her teachers and for parents who want one. I also made some for Skye because she loves funfetti cupcakes. So 48 cupcakes later I am am BEAT! Here are some pics of what we came up with...

Pumpkin Patch

We took the kids to the pumpkin patch this weekend it was obviously Kohen's first time. Kohen seemed content even though he had no idea what was going on. We picked a nice big pumpkin and picked out some Jack be littles and gourds. Ava is going to the pumpkin patch with her school on Wednesday so we didn't get too many. I got in Ava's costume from Ant and it looks great! I wish I could take picture but alas it isn't going to happen unless I can get a new camera asap. I have a few pics that I took before my camera went kaput. (will update later with pictures)

8 Months

My boy is 8 months today. I am very sad to report that my trusted digital camera is having issues and my be on its way out so I am not able to take pictures of Koey. I can say that he sits next to me struggling to brush his sister hair working his butt off to handle the brush and stick it in her hair like she is, or maybe he is just trying to hit her. He is not crawling one bit and seems to have zero interest. I do see him lifting himself either on his arms of lifting his feet but not both together. He seems to want to stand and walk more than anything. Kohen loves to eat and can now make the milk sign when he wants to nurse. He is also waving hi an clapping for himself (funny clap), I will post video later on this evening. He is also a huge babbler and loves to talk. Still loves to be held and cuddle with me. Such a sweetie he gives such great smiles and has started leaning in to kiss me. I still can't believe its been 8 months!!!
